Alaska HALO–– “Helping Alaska's Loved Ones"
Alaska HALO’s programs have been established to better the life of a sick or disabled child and/or young adult by providing their loved ones to not only be with them during their time of need but to also make sure that they enjoy Quality Time together without the worry of life’s everyday pressures and financial burdens.
Financial & Support Program
Alaska HALO is here to help the families and/or caregiver(s) with the everyday financial expenses and burdens that may arise and thus, prohibiting them from participating in either Quality Time with their child and/or the Quality of Life. Many times when a child and/or young adult are in the hospital for an extended period of time it becomes nearly impossible for the families and/or caregiver(s) to be there on a consistent basis. Whether it is the price of gasoline for trips to the hospital, child care for other siblings in order to visit the hospital, taking time off and/or missing work, meals while at the hospital, needed medications for the sick or disabled child, and so many other circumstances that can eventually lead either to the families and/or caregiver(s) being unable to spend the quality time needed with their child, or worse yet, no time at all.
Partake in an Activity Program
Alaska HALO will ensure that all children and young adults alike with an illness and/or disability that demands that they spend a lot of time in the hospital, and
hence, missing many of the regular activities that other children and young adults do. HALO will ensure that those children and young adults are able to partake in the activities that they would like to do without having to worry about any of the stresses of might not being able to do so.
Education & Awareness Program
Alaska HALO is available to educate the families and/or caregiver(s) as well. There are so many instances when the families and/or caretaker(s) do not have the time or ability to research what aid and opportunities are out there and available for the families and/or caregivers. HALO will be there to help and make sure that they are aware of the resources that are out there and available to them, and, HALO will direct and assist them with the process every step of
the way.
Outreach & Research Program
Alaska HALO understands firsthand that having a child in the hospital even once, is a traumatic experience, but having a child and/or young adult there for
extended periods of time over the course of their life, such as a child and/or young adult with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is devastating. HALO understands the many
heart aches that the families and/or caregiver(s) that have a sick and disabled child must endure. HALO will be there to help the families and/or caregivers thru those heartaches. HALO knows families and/or caregivers that have shared firsthand in the same and/or a similar situation that you may be going thru. Families and/or Caregivers are there and they are as ready as ever to lend an open ear and a shoulder to cry on at anytime that one maybe needed.
